Mac Miller Passes at the age of 26

Mac Miller, the 26-year-old acclaimed rapper and producer, died in his Los Angeles home Friday. The cause of his death is said to be a drug overdose.
Over the past 24-hours, Mac Miller’s death has been a grievance for many, including family, fans, and celebrities that knew him. Artists, including Snoop Dogg, SZA and Chance the Rapper, have shared their condolences and grief on Instagram and Twitter. Close friends reflect on his genuine and kind personality on social media as well.
Raised in Pennsylvania, Miller left his hometown to grow into a well-known rapper and producer. The single, Donald Trump, gave Miller his first wave of major public recognition and ignited his career. He released his first studio album entitled Blue Slide Park in 2011. From then he has created music along the side of hip-hop legends Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne and Cam’ron.
Mac Miller had been battling drug addiction since his claim to stardom. He was very open about his addiction and undeniably expressed his mentality and depression in his music. Throughout each album, Miller’s music evolved from pop rap to lyrical and emotional rap. In his last album, Swimming released on August 3, 2018, the song Self Care was extremely revealing to his emotional state. He makes reference to a car accident that he had this past May and his mental health.
Miller’s messages throughout his musical career have become more truthful and vulnerable, earning respect from many fans and celebrities. He will be missed by many and his memory won’t be forgotten.
